Eric Beecher has long been at the forefront of journalism in Australia as a reporter on The Age, The Sunday Times and the Washington Post; as editor of the Sydney Morning Herald; and editor-in-chief of the Herald and Weekly Times newspaper group.
And now, as publisher and proprietor of Crikey.com, Business Spectator, Eureka Report and Smart Company and through his commentary, Beecher is at the forefront of the rapid transition of journalism from traditional platforms to on-line publishing.
Eric Beecher will be presenting the keynote address at the conference dinner of the Journalism Education Association of Australia, and this address will mark the end of Perth Press Club functions for 2009.
Other guest speakers at the JEAA conference will be Brett McCarthy, editor of The West Australian; Mike van Niekerk, Online editor-in-chief, Fairfax Media; and Peter van Onselen, senior political commentator for The Australian.
